The CAPA Austin Blog

1st Annual TPA Leadership Forum
On August 28 & 29 of 2009, TPA invited some of their active leaders within the organization in order to talk about where the organization is heading. We spoke of our mission and strategic plan for the next three years. TPA staff along with many of the board of directors listened to various TPA members throughout the 2-day event. Each of the participants had something to contribute, but most of us left with optimism for the future of the association. Each participant set a goal for the coming year that was attainable. They conveyed their particular goal to the president of TPA, Gene Adams, in an open forum. CAPA had representation from Nathan Pope, Alexis Balko, Joe Jospeh, Jason Sparks, and Marcus Stavchansky. Many of the other large locals, and small, were also represented. Take a look at some of the photos from the event: *I apologize for the large white space, it is something we are working to fix.

A Step in the Right Direction

Joe A. DaSilva, Executive Director/CEO of TPA has posted his August 2009 newsletter. It is important to follow where our parent organization is headed as it affects how our local association will move forward into the future. Take the time to read his post on taking a ‘Step in the Right Direction‘. If you would like to learn more about TPA, I encourage you to review the brief slide show to learn more about the oldest organization in the State of Texas. Our summer social is coming up, please make sure to reply to the Evite when you have received it and also remember to cast your ballots. Our ballot is available here. See everyone on August 27th. Marcus

Piano Man, pharmacy style!
Hello all, Marcus here. I am going to be the managing editor and main contributor to our new CAPA Austin Blog beginning September 1st, 2009. Many of our board members will also be making posts to talk about CAPA meeting information, current events, news updates, and anything pharmacy and CAPA related they would like to talk about. I would highly suggest you follow us in a news reader such as Google reader to keep up to date with all of our latest posts. Google will walk you through the entire process for using their news reader. If you do not know what a new reader is, now is the time to learn, in what takes you hours to get information on the  internet can be reduced to minutes with the use of a ‘.rss’ reader. I am looking forward to our future meetings at CAPA and to our TPA conference in 2010 which will be held in our own town, Austin, TX. If you would like to leave any comments to any of our posts, please do so by clicking on the link that follows the post, “Leave a Comment” you would like to comment on. I wanted to end this post with a video. I stumbled upon this video from a college of pharmacy somewhere in the US, but I wanted to share it with everyone. It reminds a lot of UT Austin’s Pharmacy Follies. If you have a pharmacy related song or video you would like to share with the rest of CAPA, do not hesitate to contact us at blog@capa-austin.org. We can ALL relate to this video. Enjoy everyone: Music starts at around 1:13 Pharmacy Man
