Each of the participants had something to contribute, but most of us left with optimism for the future of the association.

Each participant set a goal for the coming year that was attainable. They conveyed their particular goal to the president of TPA, Gene Adams, in an open forum.

CAPA had representation from Nathan Pope, Alexis Balko, Joe Jospeh, Jason Sparks, and Marcus Stavchansky. Many of the other large locals, and small, were also represented. Take a look at some of the photos from the event:

At the closing session we saw the changing of the guard. Bill Moore passed on his duties to Gene Adams and all the board of directors were sworn in for their responsibilities for the association in the coming year.

We had a closing session with a motivational speaker who used the sounds of his guitar, and skillful playing to ask the questions ‘What If?’ and ‘Why not?’

What a great weekend to meet colleagues and old friends. We also had the opportunity to see where our profession is headed in the state of Texas.

In the end we all learned that it is up to us, the pharmacy community, to dictate where our profession should go. The worst thing you can do is sit down and do nothing. We need to continue our local association meetings, like CAPA. We need to grow the membership and more importantly we need to get that membership more active within teh pharmacy community.

Thank you TPA for hosting a great event. The Capital Area Pharmacy Association is looking forward to representing the event in Austin next year. Mark Zamutt will be serving as chair representative for the TPA event in 2010.

Don’t forget you can follow us on our twitter feed @CAPA_Austin and now follow us on Facebook by friending us and joining the CAPA group. We will soon be moving over to a fan page which will allow us to have more presence in the facebook community in a more organized manner.
